Shri 1008 Parsvnath Atishay Kshetra Prachin Digamber Jain Temple
Shri 1008 Parshvanath Digambara Jain Atishay Kshetra, commonly known as Bada Gaon Jain Temple, is located in Bada Gaon, Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, India. This sacred Digambara Jain temple is dedicated to Shri Parshvanatha, the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism, and is celebrated as an Atishay Kshetra (a place of miracles).
The temple central attraction is the stunning white marble idol of Shri Parshvanatha, which was miraculously discovered in 1922. Jain saint Acharya Anant Kirti Maharaj, with his spiritual insight, sensed the presence of this divine idol hidden within a hill. The excavation that followed led to the unearthing of this sacred idol, along with a well whose water is believed to have healing properties. Devotees flock to the temple to seek blessings and to use the water for spiritual and physical ailments.
The temple complex is home to numerous other idols and relics uncovered during the excavation. Each idol has been carefully enshrined in separate altars, enhancing the temple’s spiritual aura. The architecture reflects traditional Jain design, with intricately carved structures and serene surroundings.
This Atishay Kshetra has become a significant pilgrimage site for Jains and other visitors. It is especially vibrant during major Jain festivals such as Mahavir Jayanti, Parshvanatha Nirvana Kalnayak, and Kartik Purnima, when thousands of devotees gather to participate in the celebrations and rituals. The temple stands as a beacon of Jain culture and spirituality, attracting people from across India and beyond.
